About this course
RIIMPO321F Conduct Civil Construction Wheeled Front End Loader Operations describes the skills and knowledge required to operate this machine safely and efficiently to carry out civil construction and maintenance tasks in accordance with workplace procedures and work health and safety requirements. The unit applies to individuals working in civil construction, infrastructure, resource, and agricultural environments who are required to load, move, and place materials using a wheeled front end loader.

Course content
This course provides learners with the skills and knowledge required to safely and efficiently operate a wheeled front end loader in civil construction, agricultural and related work environments in accordance with workplace procedures and work health and safety requirements.
Course content includes:
- Planning and preparing for wheeled front end loader operations, including interpreting work instructions, site documentation and traffic management plans
- Conducting pre-start, safety and operational checks on the machine and associated equipment
- Identifying hazards, implementing risk controls, and applying safe work practices throughout operations
- Operating to load, carry, place and stockpile materials in accordance with task requirements and site conditions
- Maintaining machine stability, load security and safe operating limits under varying terrain and operating conditions
- Communicating effectively with other workers using appropriate verbal, hand and audible signals
- Monitoring performance, identifying common faults and reporting maintenance issues
- Performing shutdown, parking, cleaning and post-operational procedures
- Completing required workplace documentation and reporting in accordance with site requirements
Course components
Face to face knowledge and practical learning and assessment (12 hours / 2 days)
The knowledge component involves theory training from your trainer and assessor to guide you through the learning and assessment process. This is done in a classroom setting and also whilst outside with the machine.
The practical component involves hands-on training where participants will learn and practice the applied skills with a trainer there to observe and provide feedback.
Course requirements
To successfully complete this unit, students must participate in all required training and assessment activities and demonstrate competence in accordance with the unit of competency and the Standards for RTOs 2025.
Students are required to engage in practical, hands-on training and assessment activities involving the safe operation of a wheeled front end loader in workplace or simulated environments that reflect real civil construction, agricultural and rural operating conditions.
Students must be physically capable of safely operating a wheeled front end loader, including performing pre-operational checks, manoeuvring the machine, managing loads and completing shutdown procedures.
Students must be able to follow workplace instructions, apply work health and safety requirements, and communicate effectively with others on site.
There are no formal prerequisite units for this course.
Students must comply with Agri Training Solutions’ enrolment, attendance and assessment requirements, and adhere to all safety, site and equipment use procedures relevant to wheeled front end loader operations.
All course requirements are communicated to students prior to enrolment through the pre-training review process to ensure students understand expectations and are suitably prepared to undertake training and assessment.

Assessments
There are two types of assessments you will be required to complete for this course:
- Supported online learning for theory learning and assessment
- Face-to-face practical training and assessment
If you are not satisfied with your assessment results it is best to discuss it with your trainer and assessor first to see if you can arrange a reassessment. If you still find you are dissatisfied, you can complete a Complaints and Appeals form and we will follow the process outlined in our Complaints and Appeals Policy (pdf), which is also in our Student Guide (pdf) and on our Student Resources page on our website.
Certificates
Upon successful completion of all required components, we will issue a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment (certificate) for the following:

Your certificate will be emailed as a PDF to your nominated email address within 5 business days of course completion, providing all competencies are met.
